Beta Alpha Psi National Conference
This summer, the fall 2015 officer board had the opportunity to travel to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, for the Beta Alpha Psi National Conference. At the conference, the officers participated in workshops and lectures with the hope of improving the organization.
The board departed from LAX at 7:30pm on Wednesday, August 5th, and arrived in Milwaukee at a very early 2:00am. Although tired and jetlagged later that morning, the group was eager and ready to participate in the community service day event. The community service event consisted of facilitating a literacy fair at a local elementary school where officers aided in handing out books to the students. The next morning, keynote speaker and Executive Director at Oracle USA, Kimberly Ellison – Taylor, inspired students with her story of overcoming obstacles and dedication to her career. Students then dispersed to attend the different workshops hosted by professionals and students alike. A favorite of the officers was the goal setting workshop taught by Roger Philipp, founder and CEO of Roger CPA Review. The officers had a great experience in Milwaukee learning about new ways to improve BAP&AS, as well as bonding as the fall 2015 board. The 2016 Beta Alpha Psi Western Regional Meeting will be held in San Jose, California. Article by Karina Armendariz Photos by Yoshe Yamada |
