BAP Spring 2015 Regional Conference
The Spring 2015 Officer Board had the great opportunity to attend the Beta Alpha Psi Regional Conference in Las Vegas. The conference was filled with masterclasses, workshops, and lectures all designed to share tools and tips to improve our organization.
The group left early Friday morning – 6:00 a.m. to be exact – and drove all the way to Vegas. Once arriving, the group checked into the Flamingo hotel where the conference was held. Later in the evening the first event of the conference was held – a speech by the The Mayor of Las Vegas, Carolyn G. Goodman. Mayor Goodman spoke about the growth and complexity of the Las Vegas economy, all while emphasizing the importance of the accounting profession. Mayor Goodman’s speech was truly inspirational and memorable. After the event, Mayor Goodman handed out her business card, a poker chip. The next day, the officer board met other schools while attending the different lectures provided at the conference. Some of these lectures included Recruiting Quality Officers and Organizing Meaningful Service Projects. Later, lectures were given by Beta Alpha Psi alumni professionals. My First Engagement: An Alumni Panel and Fraud War Stories were two of the more memorable presentations. After the events of the conference were finished, the group had dinner at the Nine Fine Irishmen restaurant in the New York, New York hotel. With a delicious meal, the group had a great time getting to know each other even more. The next conference will be the Beta Alpha Psi National Conference held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
