Meet and Greet
Beta Alpha Psi and Accounting Society held their semi-annual Meet and Greet at the University Student Union on January 31, 2015. Accounting students as well as alumni gathered in eager communion to interact with new and recurring members during the three hour social event. Over 100 students attended the event, a great turnout for the event. Students conversed while playing bowling, billiards, foosball, and air hockey while quenching their thirst and hunger with water, soda, and boxes of pizza all around.
It was a night full of mingling, and by the end of the night, all of the new members - most of who had not attended a single BAP event before - were socializing with more senior members. Members shared stories and tips for specific accounting courses as well we what it takes to succeed in the accounting profession. Many returning BAP&AS members used the time to explain the public accounting recruiting process to new members.
The event went so well that nearly everyone stayed well past the end time of 9:00. Social events like these present opportunities for students not only to practice social skills in preparation for future professional events, but create new friendships as well. We look forward to the upcoming social events this spring semester.
