Bike MS: Bay to Bay Tour
Before sunrise, on Saturday, October 17, 2015, our BAP&AS candidates of the Omicron class volunteered their time and energy to the Bike MS Bay to Bay Tour event. Our members assisted with unloading bikes, checking in bags, and cheering on the cyclists as they prepared to bike their way from Irvine, CA to Carlsbad, CA. This biking event provided fundraising and awareness about multiple sclerosis (MS), an unpredictable, often disabling disease that affects the central nervous system, causing a disruption to the flow of information between the brain and the rest of the body. The cause of MS is still unknown.
Our BAP&AS members were also there to welcome the riders back on Sunday, October 18, 2015, at the Irvine Transportation Center. They spent hours unloading bikes from various trucks and assisting the returning riders in finding their bikes on the racks. This volunteer experience was both rewarding and educational to our members. Article by Natalie Nguyen Photos by Natalie Nguyen & Joy Uba |
