Summer Workshops
School may have been out for the summer, but that doesn’t mean Beta Alpha Psi & Accounting Society students stop working hard. Beta Alpha Psi & Accounting Society held their annual summer Resume Workshop on Thursday, July 23 and Mock Interview Workshop on Thursday, July 30 at the University Student Union Study Room.
Attendees consisted of BAP&AS members as well as prospective members. Current members made sure to interact with the prospective students and make them feel welcomed to the organization. These prospective members were mostly transfer students who are now starting Intermediate Accounting courses this Fall.
The first event, the Resume Review Workshop, took place on July 23, 2015. Each student was scheduled to meet with three professionals to have their resume reviewed and critiqued for 15 minutes. Those who reviewed resumes were from esteemed firms such as EY, KPMG, Novogradac, Murphy Murphy & Murphy, HCVT, and Moss Adams.

On July 30, 2015, students and professionals returned to the USU 24hr study room for the Mock Interviews. Similarly to Resume Review workshop, each student had the opportunity to meet with three professionals for thirty minutes each. Since lunch was provided at this workshop, students felt more comfortable mingling with professionals in a less formal setting.
Overall, the summer workshops were a success. Not only were the students able to improve their professional development, but they were able to network with both professionals and peers. Events such as these help inspire students to become involved in the organization and succeed.
