BAP 2014 National Conference
The Fall 2014 Officer Board had the privilege of traveling to Atlanta, Georgia for Beta Alpha Psi's National Conference. The officers left LAX at approximately 6:00 PM on a Wednesday evening, and after two hours of layover in Seattle and 6 hours of flight time, they finally landed in Atlanta at 6:00 AM on Thursday, just in time for the conference.
The three day conference started off on a positive note through BAP's International Day of Literacy, sponsored by KPMG LLP. Beta Alpha Psi members visited local schools and distributed books and taught children the importance of literacy in their lives. The conference allowed the officer board to meet and network with Beta Alpha Psi chapters from all over the nation, as well as allowed the chapters to share ideas and attend workshops about improving their organization. The University of Utah did a presentation on how they successfully track a chapter of 200+ members using a series of excel formulas (VLOOKUP) and card swiping. Our chapter incorporates the same method, substituting Excel with the OrgSync platform. One of the workshops was on the Beta Alpha Psi Intranet reporting and the new guidelines established. Starting the 2014-2015 academic year, chapters will now have to file a mid-year report (December 15) in addition to the beginning-of-the-year and end-of-the-year reports. It was a truly wonderful experience meeting other members of the Beta Alpha Psi family and exploring the beautiful city of Atlanta, Georgia. The next Beta Alpha Psi event will be be the Western Regional, hosted sometime in the Spring by the University of Las Vegas, in Las Vegas. |
